Industry Digest #8: Fastener Market News

We'll tell you what was happening in the industry in late 2025 and early 2026.

We'll tell you what was happening in the industry in late 2025 and early 2026.

1. The Dubna SEZ will expand production of nuts for aircraft.

TechResurs, a resident of the Dubna Special Economic Zone, has received permission to construct the second phase of its administrative and production building. The project is part of an expansion of production of parts and components for aviation, space, marine, and ground-based equipment. Total investment in the project will amount to 300 million rubles. The new production lines will create 46 jobs.

2. Skoltech has developed composite rivets for engineering structures.

Skoltech engineers, in collaboration with Harbin Institute of Technology, have developed composite rivets for use in polymer profile structures. This new type of fastener can be used in bridges, marine piers, thermal power plant cooling towers, and other structures.
The rivets are made of fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene and are formed directly on-site. Tests have shown that these fasteners provide comparable or superior fatigue strength to metal bolts, while being lighter in weight and corrosion-resistant.

3. In Russia, the production of hidden fasteners for heavily loaded wooden structures has begun.

EUROCODE 5 has developed and launched production of aluminum fasteners for heavily loaded timber structures. The new products feature concealed fasteners in the form of T-shaped brackets. Prior to launching the products, the company conducted research and analyzed customer needs. The developers believe the new fasteners offer significant potential and are suitable for use in a variety of structures.

4. The Prommetiz Association summed up the results of the industry's work in December 2025.

According to the Prommetiz Association, in December 2025, the volume of work at metal hardware companies was 91.1% of December 2024 levels. In the fourth quarter of 2025, these figures were lower than those of the third quarter of 2025 and the fourth quarter of 2024.

At the end of 2025, sales volume in physical terms reached 91.3% of the previous year's levels, and revenue amounted to 78.3%, due to a decrease in average prices for metal hardware products. Factors influencing the industry include a high key interest rate, restrictions in the construction industry, and a general decline in metal product consumption.

5. In 2025, BMK mastered the production of 36 new types of hardware products.

In 2025, the Beloretsk Iron and Steel Works launched 36 new product lines. In response to customer demand, the plant launched 26 new sizes of flattened strip and profile wire used in the production of fasteners, springs, electrical products, and instrumentation.
The plant also produced batches of welding wire, 0.016 mm diameter microwire, and 7.50 mm diameter cold-formed rebar. It also continued to expand its line of polymer-coated ropes for mining and lifting equipment.

6. A universal “invisible” coating for fasteners has been developed in Russia

MODENGY 1021, a universal transparent coating designed for application to fasteners, has been developed at Modengy's antifriction coatings laboratory. The coating forms a dry layer several micrometers thick and does not alter the appearance of bolts, nuts, and screws.

The coating is applied using a dipping process and is compatible with existing manufacturing processes. This development reduces the coefficient of friction, protects against corrosion and seizure, and offers high wear resistance. The solution can potentially be applied to galvanized, black construction, and stainless steel fasteners.
